RULES OF PLAY

  1. Teams to consist of 8 players being under 11 years of age on 31 August of the previous year (start of school year). Girls up to two years over the age limit may play.
  2. Games to be of 16 overs duration per side.
  3.  The match ball shall be leather and weigh 4 ¾ ounces, to be provided by the home team.  The pitch will be 20 yards in length.

  4.  Team members to bat in pairs, each pair facing 4 overs. In the event of a team having less than 8 players, the opposing captain may choose the batter(s) who will bat again to complete the innings. No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs.

  5.  The batting side has a starting total of 200 runs. Runs scored are added as normal, and 5 runs are deducted for each wicket lost.

  6.   No batsman who is out for any reason shall face the next ball.

  7.   Wides and noballs shall be scored as two extra runs but will count as part of the over (i.e. will not be bowled again) except in the final over of each innings.

  8.   Helmets are to be worn by all batsmen and wicketkeepers. Fielders are not permitted to stand within 10 yards of the batsman, other than behind square on the off side.

  9.   Consideration should be given to the size of the boundary.

  10.   In all other respects the normal Laws of Cricket shall apply.

  11.   2 points will be awarded for a win; one point each for a tie or in the case of an abandoned or cancelled match which cannot be rearranged.

  12.   These rules also apply to knockout cup matches. In the event of a tied cup match, teams can agree to a replay or have a bowlout to settle the outcome.

  13.   Clubs must register players with the League on the appropriate form.

  14.   Scoresheets to be returned to the youth league coordinator within one week of each game by the home team, or in the case of a cup match, by the winning team.
